I dyed my bedroom carpet in the 70's and it worked pretty good. with the new dyes' I would think the work will be worth the effort..

My next door neighbor had some renters who dyed his rental carpet Blue without asking. It destroyed his carpet, not to mention the hard wood floors under it. The dye was spotty and uneven due to material of the carpet and where stains were on the carpet. certain products can not be dyed. Do so with caution.
