    those are certified safe places for people to go if they have been physically emotionally mentally and sexually abused. They are apart of the safe haven laws. A way to separate from the abuser.

    Hi Dixie, Safe homes are homes that kids can go to and be safe. You have to qualify to be considered as a safe home. Your home is identified by a sign in the window. Children are taught that if they need help, they can find it at a house portraying that sign.

    the sign used in iowa at one time was a blue star in the window. If you were a registered day care home...you were automatically a safe haven home.

    In our area, we designate a safe home as detailed in the above answers. A "safe home" is a sanctuary where an individual (child or adult) can go with the reasonable assumption of remaining in a safe environment from an abuser.

    You may not like this suggestion but the presences of spiders is the sign of " a safe home ". Some of us spray everything but spiders are like the fabled " canaries in the coal-mine. Most spiders are small inoffensive creatures.
