Sealing concrete floor

Thinking about ripping the carpet from the concrete slab floor. How difficult is it to clean, paint, then seal the floor so I don't have to worry about new carpet or putting in hardwood floor? Any drawbacks to this plan?
It's a small room.

Drawbacks ? Cold seeps through , no insulation . You don't realize how much insulation a floor cover provides until you don't have one . Also , very hard on the joints .
Plusses: if its done right , its super easy to clean. You can get an area rug (you'd have to clean and eventually replace that) but its cheaper than carpet .
