White or stained interior doors?

We want to replace our interior doors in the bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room. All our trim is stained, do we have to replace with doors with new stained doors or can we replace them with white 6 panel doors? I don't know if I can mix stained trim with white painted doors.

You can install the 6 panel doors. The stained trim will set off the doors. Although I'd probably paint the trim white. Get paint samples. Just about any look goes today.

Personally white doors and trim really give the rooms that pop of color and frame the painted wall. It's like having a picture on a wall, the framing counts.

The choice is completely yours depending on what you like. Any door will work with any trim. If you put a painted door in stained trim, and you like it, great. Otherwise you can always paint the trim. Do what makes you feel good.

When we moved to our current home a year ago, I felt like the bedroom/bath/laundry hallway was like a dungeon with dark stained trim and doors. It has taken me a little while this summer, but I've removed each door, sanded them down and cleaned with Dirtex to remove the stain residue and painted them all white. They are just standard builder's grade doors. I sanded down the door trim and painted that white, too. We did replace the laundry door with a frosted glass door because the window in the laundry room faces south and we figured we'd get some light into the hallway with the glass door. The area looks totally different now - it's brighter, more inviting, and doesn't feel like a house built in the late '70's. We love it! It is a lot of work (I did a total of 13 door, including 2 sets of sliding closet doors), and we even replaced all he hinges and handles, but it was worth the time and effort. It would have cost a fortune to replace all the doors, and we'd still have to paint them.

I love wood so my answer would always be to retain the natural grain of the wood but good quality wood does cost more so you will need to factor that into your budget.
