For q tips I just use a travel soap box. You can cram quite a few in there. I have a travel sewing kit my mom gave me 40 years ago, I have no idea where she picked it up, but I use it to this day. For needles, just take a scrap of fabric and slip as many as you need. Then place in an recycled Altoids box or similar size container.
I use an old mint tin for needles, thread and safety pins. For q-tips, I generally use a snack size Ziploc bag.
I use sandwich ziplock baggies for small stuff like Q-tips, and for sewing needs, old pill bottles work.
Use pill bottles
I agree with medication bottles and mint tins. They travel well and no chance of damage.
I use the snack sized baggies for Q-tips, and prescription bottles with the labels off for pins, needles and such. Use permanent marker to label each bottle.
I put our Q tips etc. in empty pill vials. I then decorate the vials with stickers to perk them up
