I have to admit, I've used Rustoleum's Chalkboard paint back in the day when my son was little on his playroom wall. I hated it! It always looked dirty even if I took a wet rag to it. And it always had phantom writing that wouldn't fully erase. I sold the house before having to paint over it, thank goodness! Never made that mistake again. Well here I am, entertaining chalk boards in my home again. But this time, I have the perfect solution. Heritage Collection All In One Paint makes a clean wipe chalkboard. If you're wondering how to clean a chalkboard, this one literally wipes completely clean like the chalk was never there. How awesome is that! Now I can have the best of both worlds, a clean wall and a chalk board. And I can make my chalkboard in any of the awesome colors!

We'll be starting with a plain mirror like this one. So many of us refinish dressers and we pitch the old, outdated mirror. Not any more! Make it into a FANCY chalkboard!

First, always degrease the surfaces you're removing with a product like TSP. If you're using two colors like we are (one for frame and one for chalkboard), you'll want to tape the inner section off and start with the frame. If you're painting all one color, there is no need for this step.

On this project, Tracey chose our beautiful bright white, Cashmere for the frame. Since All in One Paint is a chalk style paint featuring built in bonding primer, wax & top coat, you'll need to stir it for 2 mins per can, whipping from the bottom.

Apply one to two coats allowing each to dry thoroughly before applying the next.

Next, Tracey chose the color Amalfi for the chalk board portion of this project. Yes, this beautiful teal is our chalkboard! Again, stir, stir, stir.

Begin applying to your mirror or whatever portion of your project is going to be your chalkboard. Because All In One Paint has a built in bonding primer, it works great on glass and mirrors without the need for a primer coat!

Apply one to two coats until desired coverage is reached. Allow each to thoroughly dry before starting the next. Be sure to apply liberal coats of paint each time so the paint's self-leveling qualities can work their magic.

Here she is.
