When popcorn ceiling was refinished the floor was not sealed off well and all the fine dust from sanding was imbedded in the detailed crevices of the wood floor.

Vacuum thoroughly and this is where you'll use some elbow (or knee) grease. Use the point end of wooden skewers to loosen the dust /dirt in the crevasses. Vac as you go along. Keep in mind, if you wet the floor, it will only embed the dust in deeper. Good luck.

  • Vacuum first then see what you might need to do next. If you paid a service to remove your popcorn ceilings, they are responsible for your floors - if that is the case, call them back out, lodge a complaint, speak to the owner - whatever you have to do.

Follow Naomie's advice first. I've had great success removing "crumbs," dust, fine hair, etc., from detailed carvings in furniture and floors using a pet adhesive tape roller and rolled tape. For really deep carvings, use either Silly Putty or Playdough!
