It depends on where you live, but the garage may be safe enough to keep it going for the winter. They should be a perennial and won't mind the cold temps in the garage and the pot should not freeze completely like it would outside in the cold wind and snow, etc.
If you have winter freezes, you can put them on a porch or in a garage , and if it freezes hard at night put water containers around the plant and let the sun heat them up, I put a plastic trash can over the whole planter so that the rim rests on the ground or other solid surface. That protects them from frost and ice, and the water containers inside the covering trash can gives off enough heat to keep the plants from freezing overnight. Then remove the cans during the day when the temperature rises about 32 degrees.
