Comfortable laundering without the $700 retail boosters cost.

Finished and installed
It always made sense to boost my laundry. When front loaders came out, even more so. But I hated the price and lack of storage the laundry makers had available. 13" (12 plus plywood) is the perfect size for under the upper cabinets. (If you have a top load washer just boost the dryer!) you won't believe the back strain you eliminate.
My friend Kathy wanted one so we measured her space and the depth and width of her machines. Get OST (the green ones that resist mildew in humid conditions) plywood and a 12' 2x12 and have your home improvement store cut the plywood and 2x12" to your lengths. I made hers 32x56". So I needed a 54" along the back -2" shorter along the back and three 3" shorter than the depth. Her short pieces were cut to 29". Paint your short pieces your wall or floor color if desired.
Make sure your boards are at right angles.
After Kathy painted her pieces we let that dry overnight. Square up your pieces (I use a book as a right angle). Pre drill the long 2x12 and use 2-2 1/2" screws to attach the long piece to the shorter ones. This will be the base under the plywood.
Screw the other side. Center your middle board last and screw that in too. (The long board will be the back side, toward your wall)
Pot the top on
Pre-drill holes through the plywood and screw the plywood on. You can use wood glue as well for extra adhesion.
Use a scrap of rug and staple around the underside(that's why you left that inch or two space).
Staple the top as well. The piece of carpet is not needed but it stops the vibration, muffles the noise and looks pretty. Now this booster is ready for my friend Kathy's new appliances.
Measure your finished spaces and find your storage bins. I've found that this is the perfect spot for my vacuum attachments, extra dog toys, cleaning rags and water bucket.
