Dig up, place in paper bags, make sure they are labeled correctly, and place in the garage. Some can be refrigerated (if you want to or have space in a spare fridge in your garage), and Google each plant to make sure each is getting the proper handling.
dig them up ,allow to dry, store in sphagnum peat's in a brown paper bag, store in a dark cool location
"Whether you are storing tender summer blooming bulbs or more hardy spring bulbs that you did not get in the ground in time, knowing how to store bulbs for winter will ensure that these bulbs will be viable for planting in the spring." Store your bulbs in a stapled brown paper bag.
Which bulb are you going to dig up? I always put dirt, and leaves over mine, and leave mine in the ground. They adjust, and do just fine. You can always move them, if you want them in a diff place. J.
In CA you may be able to store in the garage, but those of us up north it probably would get too cold for the ones that have to be dug up each fall when it gets minus thirty outside for a day or two. All I store in the garage is pots that have nothing in them. My fridge in the garage may keep them warm enough to survive, but I don't want to take a chance.
Do you have a basement? I store mine in the basement, as far from the boiler and windows as I can get. The basement should be a dry one, not damp.
