Mounting an apron farmhouse sink

When installing an apron front cast iron kitchen sink should the bottom of it have extra support with cross pieces made from 2x2's. Everything I have read says it should not rest on the cupboard boards below the sink.

Yes. If you have not taken it out of the box yet, you are in for a suprise - it will be very heavy. Not many cabinets are built for that kind of weight. The 2x2 will brace it up nicely.
