How can I change the look of this dish?

would like to see more pic of it very unuseal.what does other side look like?

Looks like it has a makers mark. post to a ceramics collector website & ask what it is & value. then post it to a board, sell it & buy a piece you do like. Or, buy some "patio paint" at Michael's or other craft store & go to town!

Throw it away

Although you may not like it, this dish has some character and could be worth some decent money on eBay. If it is not your taste why not pass it on to someone who appreciates it and use their money to buy two or three of something that is your taste.

Paint an attractive color with paint from Michael's. Let dry and run a bead of glue around the edges of each depression and turn upside down into a layer of colored sand. Or glue tiny shells, rocks, jewels, sea glass or whatever may cock your pistol. Fill each depression with candle wax, add several wicks to each and voila you have a creative artsy focal point for use anywhere in your home or on the patio. No, no don't thank me. Just send gifts. LOL

Good advice thus far. After all attempts prove to be fatal (nothing pleases), take it to a reputable ceramics shop to see what they say. The pretty little flowers are decals, affixed at a low temperature.......they may have a way of removing them and/or replacing them.

This piece is a California Original pottery piece. Mid Century Modern, so people DO collect them. Don't ruin it, as others have said. Sell or gift to a collector.

Yep, California Originals pottery. Worth about $25.00 to $30.00 on Ebay.

Yes, you could try to sell it on Ebay or Etsy or your Local Yard Sale.....but truly, it's a dated dish and the value is only IF a collector wants to buy it. Truly, they were a dime a dozen when they came out. If you like the shape, do something creative with paint. Do you own a dremel? Remove the decorative flowers and add something you like. Did you know you could make plaster of paris flowers with posies from the $1 store? You could make a really pretty candle holder with that. If it's a piece you don't care about and don't want to bother with a single sale......have fun! You may end up creating something you'll really love.

When I first saw the dish's backside, It reminded me of a blue ribbon at a farm fair. paint it blue with gold on the lines and glue a wide blue ribbon hanging down from the bottom. If you have a favorite picture or something else that you really like attach it to the item for a novelty effect.
