I think you could do with a larger scale piece there. You already have a ceiling fixture overhead for lighting, while the small wall sconces aren't really having much impact, and neither is the small framed artwork. Don't get me wrong--there's nothing wrong with them individually, and they go together well. They're just too small to bring any "wow" factor next to that lovely glass door, even in a grouping.

If I were you, I would remove both sconces and the small framed piece, and hang a significantly larger piece of wall decor there, something about 4' high by 3' wide. Framed art, a sign, or an architectural salvage piece like an arch or a mirrored window wouldn't jut out far enough to conflict with that 8.5" clearance, but would bring more drama to that corner.

Personally I would change the picture out and put a long metal piece there to give it more definition. there is not enough space to put a shelve or anything else there

I don't think what you have used is appropriate for that area. It is a beautiful set, but not there. If you want to draw some interest, find a big colorful picture. You can find a lot at a Goodwill sore or an antique shop. Not knowing which way your door opens, a small-narrow- flat-sided table could look nice. Why not go looking in the stores I mentioned and maybe what you need will jump out at you. Make sure you have the measurement along and maybe even the picture and someone in the antique store could lend a hand. Sounds like a fun day!!

Try a couple of picture ledge shelves. They aren't very deep and you can use them to put things besides just pictures then maybe a plant next to the door at the corner where the door opens. Add a basket under the shelves to store shoes. You can also find narrow consol tables to place under the sconces maybe a key holder in the fall of a dish on the table for using as a catch all. I have a space like this and I hung a wall flower pot with a trailing plant in it. If there isn't enough sun use some fake foliage. You can swap it out for the seasons.

A half round table might work. They don't have to stick out too far.

I would remove the sconces and the small picture and use them elsewhere. They go great together, but they are too small for that area. Get a larger piece of wall art that does not stick out too much...either a picture, sign, plaque, etc that will cover a larger area of that wall. Something similar to that sunburst piece on your side wall might be nice. Since your door swings in from the corner side, I wouldn't advise putting a table or anything on that wall because you will be running into it every time you walk in and out of that door.

A nice round mirror would look great where the sconces are. You could also put a shelf under the mirror.

You need to section off this space to make it look like a foyer/entry, not just a door into another room. You can do this with paint or wall paper--- just add some wall color to give the area some identity of its own. If it was my house I would paint just the area around the gorgeous door a rich "wood" color --- one of the ones in the sconces. For more definition, I would edge around the newly defined area with mouldings or other trim.

I would paint the door wall and the wall with the sconces a accent color from the great room. Then remove the picture it's way to small for the sconces. Add two pictures to complement the new wall color. Add a rug runner

I really like the idea of a good sized mirror. The first thing I thought of was a gallery wall. Taking down what you have there and you can have some fun and even frame your light switches or stay more formal with frames all the same or just the same color. You could even incorporate a mirror with no problem!

I think you need to have the door open in the other direction so you see the room when you enter instead of a very insignificant wall.
