Finishing steps: How do I treat them?

I would like to put Laminate wood flooring in my FROG (upstairs game room). My problem, our back stairs lead up to that room. What do I do with the steps, or how
do I treat them?

You can also lay laminate on the stairs too, but they do not have to match if you do not want to. Since they are back stairs, maybe try something fun and colorful that you might not want in the rest of the house. Or you can have carpeted to keep quieter?
