Beachy Zebra Sewing Table

I got this table from a roadside rescue. I really don't even have a plan for most things that I rescue, I just know, I simply can't leave them behind. It sat in the barn for quite some time. Then, I got some chalk paint from one friend, and some plaster paint from another...and a plan was born..
I love the beach, and zebra is probably the most fun of all the animal prints to paint. So, the two, were kinda a cool inspiration for this table.
This is what this homely gal looked like on the side of the road.
here she is with just one coat of paint
slowly, she got her stripes and began to evolve
I loved the shape of the handle, so I just gave it some rub and buff.
I began to distress the table in different places and it just became something that I really don't want to get rid of.
I really never do wan to let go of my zebra stripe items for some reason
I just love the silver buffed handle with the beachy themed zebra
These two paints just distress....perfectly

I love what you’ve done! Great job. My question is about your drapes. I LOVE them. They would be perfect for my guest room. Do you remember where you got them? The pattern is just what I’m looking for. Thanks!

It's very pretty and it's yours which means you can do whatever the heck you want, but never paint antiques of that quality. It devalues it by about 75%. Always refinish in original wood. If you just have to do it use a very thin coat of a washable paint which can be taken off without ruining the wood. That table is from the 1800's and would've been about a $1000+ table at auction.

While that's a good, general, rule, that particular sewing table is not nearly that old and sewing tables, as well as sewing machines, are so abundant that they fetch almost nothing at auction except for a few, very unique, models.
