We bought a 75-year-old house with poenies i thd front. They grew to a good size but didn't produce blooms. What can I do? Perhaps move them? If yes, when's the best time?

Peonies may not bloom for the first two yrs if theyve recently been planted. Any basic fertilizer and water should do the trick. They also need 5-6 hrs of sun daily.. You can take pix of them and show them to a local nursery. If there's a special treatment for peonies they will probably have it. Other than that, leave them where they are if they're getting sun and H2O

You might try dividing them and transplanting the divisions in another part of your garden. I was told Peonies bloom on 2nd year stems. Good luck

Hello Susan, It might not be a problem with the plants. It might be a problem with the soil. I recommend diluting a tablespoon of Epson Salt in a gallon of water. Sprinkle it on the soil at the base of the plant. Then water them real good. The extra water will help the roots receive the Epson Salt. This process will put enzymes in the soil. You can repeat once or twice a month.

Peonies hate being moved. Sometimes they take years to bloom. I had one for four years that finally bloomed one year, and continued after that. Feed them before bloom time. In my state it's early June.

Also, My mom told me to try planting them just under the soil. If they are buried to deep they don't bloom. IT worked! I raised all of mine and they all bloom now.
