Round indents are similar to a nail pop. The wood is shrinking with fluctuations in humidity and load, and it's taking the nail/screw with it. If the nail/screw doesn't hold, you get a pop.

Cannot determine what your question is.

If a nail popped out of your drywall ceiling, driving it back in won't work. It will come back out. You can remove that nail and drive another right beside or better put in a drywall screw. Make sure that you feel the nail or screw grabbing something solid, that you didn't miss the ceiling structure with your new fastener. Repair is done with joint compound or spackle and a small putty knife. Just smear it on and smooth it out.

I have tried pounding the nail back up. I have been successful doing that and then I spackle up the spot and stipple some primer and paint over the top.

It is probably the nail heads. The drywall over the nail heads might be cracking around the head making them more noticeable. You can try to remove the drywall on the head itself. Then use a hammer and a nail set. This will get set on the head and then you hammer on the nail set trying to get the nail in as far as you can without hammering on the ceiling. Then you can put more drywall compound on, let it dry, sand to blend in, and prime. Here is what a nail set is.
