place open boxes of baking soda,clean the walls with white vinegar,open windows,put a fan on to circulate the stale air,wash cabinets with white vinegar as well
place decorative baskets of plain charcoal throughout the house. they will absorb some of the odor. You can also use baking soda. Try washing walls with a water and white vinegar wash too. 1 gallon of water to 1 cup of white distilled vinegar. Wash all your curtains and spray any fabrics with fabreeze.
set small bowls of vinegar throughout for a few days !! Also, rubbing alcohol works ! Fill a spritz bottle and spray everything ! Absorbs odors... will NOT damage carpets or upholstery !! If smell has gotten into woodwork... good luck !! Paint the walls or clean them well !!
I have used carpet odor eliminator powder by Arm & Hammer, pet fresh. Don't have pets but sprinkle on carpets every time you vacuum & in time it goes away.

Cigarette smoke leaves an oily residue on everything. If the surface can tolerate water you can wash it with Simple Green. There are treated sponges/erasers that you can use on wallpaper and lampshades and light fixtures. The ceiling collects the most residue and washing it can be a challenge, painting may be easier but it should be primed with oil based primer before painting. Cigarette tar will bleed through most paint if used alone. Lemon oil may help with the woden pieces, but they will have absorbed the smell inside, activated charcoal can be helpful in the drawers. You can find activated charcoal wherever they sell aquarium supplies, just put it in a small dish and close the drawer/door. If you have exposed artwork it should be cleaned by a professional.
I personally swear by the cleaning line Odoban. I have used it for years as it is the only product i purchase for my cleaning company i own. It has cleaners for everything and really does do the job it states. The aerosol air freshener gets rid of any and all odors..not just masks them. Try them out. Very reasonable in price and cost efficient.

More than likely it's on the walls. Try washing the walls down then use a product like freeze on curtains and soft surfaces.
