Last year my girls were really cool and loved the traditional orange pumpkin candy buckets. This year they got a tad girly and requested that the pumpkins be modified to reflect their more princess-y tastes. So, we set to work!
Starting basic, then used Country Chic paint to cover the orange. Here are my kids as they work.
My oldest did a great job painting the inside and outsides
I did some helping for my three year old, when she got bored, but the blue one was entirely done by my 4 year old.
Next, I found some really cheap tiaras. I originally bought them at the dollar store and my kids had snapped them and broken little bits off. So I spray painted them gold.
Next, he buckets were dry so we added some drawings about how we planed to paint them:
Then, picked out our pallets and painted them! My 3 year old was bored so I did hers and my 4 year old did hers by herself.
We had some serious fun painting these. These are the post painting pics:
Next! Hot glue! I glued on some old gold beads from a broken necklace. they are supposed to be wheels
Andthe gold tiaras are hot glued to the top of the buckets
We took out the plastic handles and replaced them with colored ribbons. We measured the ribbons to match each kiddo's height/preferences. we were proud of turning these basic boring pumpkins into something special: Cinderella's pumpkin coach!!!
She's ready to go trick or treating! Here's the closeup!
So, what do you think? My girls love them and are really excited for Halloween. Maybe yours can be too! Let me know in the comments if you did anything cool with candy buckets in the past!

Where did you get the plastic pumpkins? They are not available anywhere around here in southern NJ.
