What is the best way to get rid of textured ceilings

I am disabled and need a method that takes the least effort thanks.

    Unfortunately, this is a messy job. First, cover every single square inch of furniture, flooring, etc to make sure it does not get covered with debris while doing this job. Then, fill a garden pump sprayer with warm water and lightly mist a section of the ceiling...about 3' x 3'. Let it sit just a minute to soak in, and then use a large flat scraper to scrape off the popcorn. It is not hard to do, but is very, very messy.
