If I make a "moss" garden will the grass and clover get smothered out?

There is grass and clover in the area now but I wonder if anyone has done this (has the experience) - and that the 'MOSS' will win. Moss does grow well in this area.

The grass and clover will still grow through unless you use a heavy landscape barrier, place soil ontop and then plant the moss

Grass and clover will probably win but moss will grow on hard packed soil and even clay. If you can compress the area it may make it less inviting to clover and grass. It will even grow on rocks and cement so when compressing the ground be aggressive.

I guess the best I can do is 'hand weed' at this point! The moss is growing beautifully - but...I was hoping it would smother out the grass and clover.. I'll just need some other advise or I will have to wait and see - and I'll post in a year the progress. Thx

the moss needs shade, moisture, and no traffic..more shade the better for the moss, and dampness...
