it could be a broken pipe. it also could mean that it is too close to the bottom of the hole and the filter is being plugged by the silt. have you back flushed the pipe to the well from the house? check your compression tank, water meter, and your water softener for function. It could also mean that the pipe is congested with rust if you are in a hard water area.
It could be the pressure switch. You can get a new one at Lowes or Home Depot.
If you have just had the well drilled, you should contact the company who did it because it could be anything. We did have problems with our inside tank, but that was the well guy's issue, as well.
If you have an inline whole house water filter, change the cartridge. Check the pressure on your pressure tank with a tire gauge, it may need air. One of these is always the cause on mine. If neither are the culprit, have someone (not the well guy) check it out. Note, if the switch is bad, you get no water or it works intermittently. I had that and the well guy tried to push a well motor with a huge price tag. Had the plumber check it out to find it was an inexpensive switch and an old pressure tank. Good luck.
