Karen Hart on Feb 25, 2014@vicki K ummmm maybe check out shades of white?? I have seen a wide range from antique white to toasted marshmallow. Or maybe go rustic and use reclaimed pallet or barn wood to cover painted walls? The wood would bring some of the outdoors in and you could build towel racks out of a tree limb or use other outdoorsey items to create a calm retreat?Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Feb 25, 2014Try some different shades of light sage greens to calm down the pink. also try to look at a taupe or beige with brown undertones that has no yellow tint in it (Valspar color at Lowes-Oatland Subtle Taupe or Woodrow Wilson putty). color does evoke emotion so painting the walls neutral will help and use towels with color for accents maybe in brown which is a neutral color- if you want to evoke more of a spa and calming affect. Add a picture or two that your hubby likes that may be a favorite animal, romantic pics of you two, or car and print them out in black and white and frame them. while he is in there, even for a short time, surround him with happy things. good luck!Helpful Reply

Vicki K on Feb 25, 2014Thanks Karen! I have my daddy's home-made canes out of branches that would make great towel racks for 2. No pallet wood tho, must paint. Guess I'll investigate a quart of different whites. Now for the window curtain! Geez louise.Helpful Reply

Stacie on Feb 27, 2014I was going to say the same as Renee try some greens and browns, but have you thought about asking about tile/ porcelain paint? Some stores have paint that covers tile etc.... you have to cover with a water proof gloss after but it's a thought. My mother has same colors in bath and she painted walls with sage also, and it looks good. My moms bath is a full bath. Depending on your skills for DIY, you could just replace the mahogany sink with another one. Go to a salvage thrift store, or get a store floor model cheaply. (LOWES) Home Depot ( even Lowes) could possibly help with painting tile etc.. Good luck. Ps.. use towels, decorations, curtains, rugs to blend colors together also.Helpful Reply

Amber on Feb 27, 2014It wil be hard to make a small washrooom light and airy, starting with pink tile, it has to go. Is the pink tile on the floor or wall? Investigate the KILZ (or Buckeye) primer, and prime and paint the tile in a netural taupe if its the floor, Antique white tile if its on the wall, cocoa cream for the walls. Paint baseboards & trim in white. Keep it light with white towels, white baskets for clutter. If you have brass or silver light fixtures spray them out with Rustolum Oil Rubbed ($6) bronze for a contrast. The mahogany vanity may tie right in, with whites/taupes/creams.Helpful Reply

Vicki K on Feb 27, 2014It's mint green now, so my brain can't get around sage green....I'll try. (The MBedR is PEA GREEN (the actual name of the paint on the can! ARGH, they're not even the same color). I asked a contractor guy at Lowe's and he said NO you can't ever paint tile, it will eventually peel. So. Here I sit. But I hear of porcelain people recoating tubs, so I don't get it. We can live with the pink tile (floor only), it's the walls and ugly mirror that are killing me. Thanks for your comment though, I really appreciate it, Stacie!!Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Feb 28, 2014Pink goes very well with khaki and one of the prettiest I have ever seen is Ralph Lauren's "Cottonwood". Then you can add light brown and white hand towels. These are great colors together. Just get a swatch of that color and hold it up to the pink! I saw these colors used in a shower curtain in a bathroom that had pink tile! Play into the pink with colors opposite. You can Google "Ralph Lauren paint cottonwood" and see the color. Also his "Claude" would a pretty paint! Then use masculine color towels! Brown, olive, navy along with white.Helpful Reply

Yvette on Mar 01, 2014I think gray is your best choice. But a light dove gray. It's lighten the room. Great for a guy. And accent with white and khaki. Maybe a touch of deep purple or plum. My office is dove gray with dark pinks & purples with some sage green. I get complements all the time.Helpful Reply

Vicki K on Mar 02, 2014I'm thinking on that! I'm thinking of doing the master bedroom in a dark grayed purple, SW color of the year for 1914, it's beautiful and good for sleeping. And painting the BR suite lt. gray. So if I painted the bath lt gray, it would blend well, esp the pink tile floor.Helpful Reply
