Can I use leftover Tyvek to cover insulation in unfinished basement

Unfinished basement ceiling has insulation would like to cover using leftover Tyvek for a couple of years to help with light and to cover insulation to help with appearance until drywall can be installed, are there any downsides?

    Interesting idea! I know of Homeowners who have actually done this. Staple Tyvek to the bottoms of the joists. This material will allow water vapor to go through it in both directions, thus keeping moisture away from the insulation. Being white, it will also reflect what little light there is in the basement.
