Our house was built in 1820. We moved here 1 yr ago. I want to remove the wallpaped horse hair walls and chaulk paint the walls. Just not sure if I'm tackling more than I can handle ? Thank you!

Might be an idea to ask your local authority - Old properties advisor or Listed Buildings Officer for some advice before you do anything.

Trust me you are. One step at a time. HOT water and glue removal, (SEPARATE BUCKETS). Paintbrush it, ONE step at a time and ONE bucket at a time. Patience and time.

Yes, I think I would not try an experimental paint surface on walls that are not commonly used today. How wonderful though to have such an old house! You could start with Landmarks for advice or they could at least steer you in the right direction!

Whether you chalk paint or use some other type of paint on your horse hair wall you will need to prime it first:

Once you remove your wallpaper you will probably see there is some work that needs to be done BEFORE you can prime and paint:

And I LOVE the attitude MICHELLE BAKER has in the following link (which can relate to using chalk paint -- or ANY paint -- over horsehair plaster or anywhere over anything LOL (When I was 10 my family moved into a house built in 1892 and I still live here; just as with your home, this one also has horsehair plaster. It is definitely becoming a challenge to keep repaired nowadays, since lately I sometimes FEEL almost as old as the house LOL).
