If you can pour cake batter and spread frosting, it's actually easy to create real plaster ceiling frames in your home. Here's how I did mine.
Creating this beautiful plaster ceiling frame was easy and the look added such elegance to my dining room.
I began by marking off my ceiling frame size with a pencil.
I chose this rectangular plaster mold as the outside of the frame. It was easy to repeat and beautifully detailed.
As the pieces are cast with plaster of paris and dry, joint compound is spread over the back of each piece as the adhesive and then held in place for 60 seconds.
I like adding other ornamental mold designs such as shells and arches to corners and outside edges to add more dimension and glamour to my ceiling frames.
The awesome thing about ornamental plaster is that it creates beautiful shadows and detail as the light in the room changes. So if you're considering some glam, try this easy DIY plaster project for yourself.
