You can always paint the wood with most any finish you wish; using ribbons, beaded decorations by the yard, rick rac, trimming for curtains, etc. for decoration. Small baskets can be decorated in so many ways and will hold and store so many things around your house or can be used for gifting as a pretty container for cookies and small cakes or bread or just as a decorated box.
