Transform a balloon into a bat with this simple idea - all you need is cardstock and tape! These cute balloons are perfect for Halloween parties, and you can make them either helium filled or air-filled with balloon sticks. Don't miss my other Halloween balloon ideas including spiders and mummies!

How cute is this? Black balloons take on an eery Halloween effect with the simple addition of wings!

Supplies:

  • Black 11" helium quality balloons
  • Black cardstock
  • Bat wing template (Google has lots!)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Curling ribbon
  • Personal helium tank

Step 1: Cut out two bat wings from card stock. You can freehand cut or download a free template from online (just Google "bat wing template"). You'll want wings about 3 inches long, any longer and they will weigh down the balloon.

Step 2: Create a 1/2 inch tab by bending back the side of the wing. Add a strip of double-sided tape along the tab.

Step 3: Stick one wing on each side of the balloon.

Make a group of bats flying together! You can use a personal helium tank to fill the balloons or have a party store inflate them. Alternatively you could fill them with air and attach them to balloon sticks.
