can you install shelves or cabinet above the appliances? You can pick up double door cabinets pretty cheap - closed door assures for neatness.

Shelves above your washer and dryer. It is not that hard to do either! There are also loads of laundry room storage options if you search Google for ideas. But discard unneeded items, and put as much as you can on shelves up higher versus lower.

Send a different picture that's higher than your washing machine, and dryer. This will help us to give you some ideas. EJL.

If you have space alongside your appliances, and it looks like you do, there is a small, roll-out shelf-storage unit you can buy. I have one, it is only about 8 inches wide, and shorter than my washer. It has three shelves, holds all the various bottles and supplies you need in the laundry. Mine is white plastic, went together in a snap, and was very inexpensive.

More shelves will help. BUT....after you take that wire shelf down [dislike those things] to put up real shelves, put that wire shelf back up over the machines. But put it back up, upside down and tipped down in the front, a laundry basket height from the higher shelves. Put your baskets back on the wire shelf, and there you have a place for everyone to toss their clothes into. I actually found a picture of what I am talking about!

Anyway, then the shelves added above the basket shelf, can be used for all the other things that get stuck in that area. [we all have that] And just hang a short curtain to cover those higher shelves, unless you can get doors put on. You have a lot of space up there! You might even have the shelves be deep, like the space is.

For me, the room is too dark. I'd remove the wire racks, paint the walls bright white, install one cabinet (either side) then install wooden shelves top, midway, and at the base of the cabinet. The cabinet can be used to store laundry products, etc., the shelves can be used for baskets. Brighter lights will also work.

Wooden crates would also work for storage. Hanging a mirror on the opposite wall will reflect making the room feel larger. You have a great room, it just needs a little 'make up'. Best of luck.

Most people have room behind washers and dryers. A bin or basket there can serve 2 purposes storage and to keep things from falling behind the machines

You can install some cabinets on top of the washer and dryer and some wire shelving on the hallway. Problem solved.
