Hello Brenda MacNear :) Here is a link wherein you will find at the bottom of the page a phone number you can call (listed by State) to speak to someone who can find some help for you.

I hope this helps you Brenda. Thanks for coming to HOMETALK to find help :)
I know here in some parts of Canada, high school students must have a certain number of volunteer hours to graduate. If there is a smilar incentive in your state, you could perhaps check with your local high school. All people have to do here is fill and sign 1 line on the student's volunteer card.
Reach out to your local pennysaver, post ads in supermarkets or schools
I would check with your local senior center to see if there are volunteers that can help with this sort of thing.
Brenda, if you are in Texas, call 211. That is the statewide help number. Right now, they are busy with people who were affected by Harvey, but they could still hep you. Otherwise, ask your neighbors and friends for recommendations. Whatever you do, please be careful.
Contact your local senior center as was mentioned before, also ask them if their is an elder network that is in your city. They have a network of people that help out the elderly with chore that are getting difficult as they get older, like yard work and repairs. I hope this can help you!
I recommend contacting a few churches in your area. Sometimes volunteer work is required for young adults to make their confirmation. Best of luck to you.
Lots of church groups in my area help seniors with yard work, and the Mormon church has youth groups who go out to do projects. The local juvenile justice facility has work crews that do landscaping cheap with supervision especially for tough projects like clearing blackberries.
