How to organize a small purse?

I don't carry a large purse/pocketbook/bag. But I apparently carry a lot in it. I don't have a keychain, but I do have lipstick, sunglasses, and little purse for money. I use an old checkbook cover to hold gift cards we have not used. And I have business cards, receipts, a notepad, ID and credit cards. And a lot of misc. that could be trash. I don't have a wallet but I could get one, but that would add weight. My purse, as we call them in Texas, needs to stay lightweight. It has one tiny zippered pocket, and one little pocket that doesn't close. Help! My OCD requires an organized purse! Can you help? 😇

The yawning mouth of the purse I carry. No phone or outside pockets.
I like the decoration.

  • Grab a couple little zippered make up bags. One for this, one for that

Years ago I ordered a small nylon (so it's lightweight) purse organizer from the Harriet Carter Catalog. It's about 6 or 8 inches long, about 4" high, and probably 3-4" wide. It has 4 outside pockets, an inside divider to make two sections, and one zipper pocket -- pretty much places for everything. I would suggest a nylon or fabric wallet for credit cards and money or you could put it in the zippered makeup bag. I really wish they made a larger organizer (and they may; I haven't looked lately) because I couldn't resist buying one of those tote bags that everyone has now in a beautiful deep olive green for fall and it doesn't even have the zippered pocket. Retailers should let their vendors know that they could sell more purses (I'm from Waco so I carry a purse too) if they put pockets on the outside and inside.

I found a purse organizer online at Amazon. There were several sizes and they were inexpensive. We call it purse in Kansas, too.

My error -- apparently it was Carol Wright Gifts. The current organizer is 9 1/2"L x 6 1/4"H x 3"D and made of polyester.

They make divider things for purses...they slip in your purse and have compartments. There are 2 sizes..larger purse and smaller purse. Ask at a store that sells purses.

I can barely walk, so I don't get to go shopping very often. But I do remember that Walmart, Walgreen's, and maybe Dollar Tree carry things like this. I have a plan now. 1. My craft supplies. 2. Carol Wright. 3. Online and in store. Thank you 😇

ditto on the purse organizer, it makes switching out purses super easy. Packing cubes are amazing for keeping things categorized: for example you could have one for money (cash cards, etc), one for makeup or touch up items you keep on hand, one for snacks etc

What are packing cubes? I like that you made a snack bag a priority. Thank you 😇

I use appropriate sized baggies, from snack to sandwich to quart size for various things in my purse, especially the little things, like change, lipsticks and pens. It keeps them in one place. Snack bags work well for credit cards and business cards. Baggies are not as big as makeup bags and are more forgiving.

Use small ziplock bags. You can see whats in them, and they line up side by side.

Ziplock are easy to fill and look in. I need the bags to not just sink in the middle of the purse. Thank you for helping

please be certain to put ID & credit cards, etc in RFID protected device. Wallet or metal holder (Amazon or EBay) works well & are lightweight.

I found a place that makes an organized bag(purse). My sister and I have a couple of them because they are sooo good. They cost some, but they are the most useful purse I in my 62 yrs have used in the last 30yrs. They have an online site-theorganizedbag.com...You can build your own by sz, color and strap lenght.

I also have several purse organizers of different sizes. They are wonderful because you can take them out and just put the whole thing in another purse. I bought one at Rite Aid drug store, and a couple online. I haven't check it out but Amazon seems to have everything!

I used to have the messiest purses ever until I got a phone case that had a wallet in it. The phone attaches with a magnet and it holds 6 cards I think and has a small zipper for cash. I got it on Amazon for 10-15 dollars. Now I often only carry that and it has trained me to throw out/recycle things I don't need that I used to stuff in my purse. You could just put that and a small makeup bag in your purse.

I carried a card holder with a magnet for folding money and had to replace all my cards because of the magnet. Walmart sells nice small insert wallets and purses.
