I have 2 NON winter-hardy hibiscus plants. Can I trim those back before bringing them back inside? When an how would I do that?

Re-pot in fresh soil,spray them down with horticulture oil,place in indirect light for a few days,then bring indoors in a bright location,do not prune them now,the leaves will most likely drop,this is normal.next year when you put them out for the season gently prune them
