Do you have anything made without so many tools?

I have no saws, drills, what do I do to make some of these things? I have no place to store them even if I did have them. I love making things to give away as gifts, and fixing up my house, sometimes I even sell them, but how on earth can I make them without fancy tools? I have a hammer, screw drivers, nails and screws, oh and an exacto knife kit. Any ideas? Thank you.

wreaths, if you want to do signs Home Depot and Liws will both cut wood for you or you can buy precut ones at craft stores. You could also do home made soaps or body scrubs.

A lot of the bigger hardware stores will cut wood down to size for you, a combination electric drill and screwdriver take up minumal room and do dbl duty. Are you currently utilizing the space under your bed or couch? Both are good places to keep your tools out of the way when not on use.

I love your question. I have the same tools as you, except for the knife. My sister got all the creative talent in our family but then she went blind..I taught myself how to crochet, but that's it. Then I discovered thrift stores. I have one wall full of beautifully decorated wreaths and hats. If someone wants to think I created them, that's fine by me..sorry I was no help..but now you know you're not alone..

  • top If you look around on various sites, you will find ideas besides just here. You can make gifts of food out of Mason Jars, and decorate the fabric and a ribbon, put dry soup mixes in them. You can also find no sew pillow covers for your house, and you can bake Christmas breads in small sizes and med. larger sizes cans that have been washed and cleaned. You can bake several sizes to make up a gift basket for Christmas of baked goods. You can do a lot with a glue gun too, and find them very cheaply just about every where. Dollar store flowers and a little wire cutter from there make cute decorations for gifts like the jars of mixes. One thing I was shown to do years ago was save my Christmas cards and make placemats to decorate the table for Christmas, you can do this with get well cards too, that someone has gotten that has been sick. Make a collage. you need poster board to make you collage arrangement, Paste them onto it then sandwich it between clear contact paper, cut the extra off. I wore mine out, we liked them because they are all unique.

A lot of the tools out there are made in smaller versions too. You can keep them in a Rubbermaid bin to keep them put up. A rotary tool has many different ends for cutting, sanding, etc. and are small. Check out the home improvement stores tool isles and you will soon be able to make some of the things you see made here. I would invest in a cordless drill first and get drill bits and screwdriver bits to make your household chores, repairs and fix ups so much easier.

hot glue gun would be a good tool to get and so handy for MANY projects like personalizing picture frames, an industrial stapler could also be something handy that fits in a drawer. tin cans can make planters or pencil holders or.... guess the question to you would be, what DO you have to work with and what would you LIKE to make?

Head to your local Michaels store. They have all sorts of kits and books to get you going. Get something that involves scissors, glue, etc that you would have room for. Maybe Christmas ornaments?

A little saw might be a good tool to have. Check a woodworker's catalog-website. If you don't have any place to store this stuff, get a flat plastic under-the-bed box and put it all in there.
