Getting the burned pot back to normal

After having walked away and left my pot on the stove, below you can see the result. I have tried soaking it, sprsuing easy off and leaving it overnight. Scouring it with barkeepers powder and a paste of baking soda. As you can see nothing has worked. Can you help me?

You can use a can of Coke to clean it off.

  • Kim Kim on Sep 19, 2017

Wow! I would have though Easy Off would have done the trick!

If the can of coke doesn't work, try putting a layer of ketchup on it in one spot and let it sit for an hour. When you clean the ketchup off, there should be a clean spot. If it worked, ketchup the whole pan!

    I hope that helps.

I found a product at Wal-mart called KRUDCUTTER, it might be in hardware. It is a strong product but WOW it removes a lot of stuff and fast. Hope this helps. Good luck

The finish on the whole pot looks quite worn out besides the bottom being burnt. It may be that the burn process not only left burn gunk, but actually burnt through the bottom finish on the pot. If the bottom finish is worn through, then the pot is not going to heat up evenly, retain heat evenly, and will likely burn faster from now on even when trying to use it with normal cooking temperatures.

How much did you pay for the pot, and how old is it? Considering the cost in purchasing many different cleaners, It may be time for the pot to be retired permanently.

    Try Bar keepers friend

  • Sam Sam on Sep 19, 2017

I use an oven cleaner. Let it soak. Once most of the char is off I give it a good scrubbing with Barkeeper's Friend. That takes care of any staining.

Have always used baking soda and vinegar. Can soak overnight, or bring to boil. Also try dishwasher soap, soak overnight. Let me know if either of these work.

Fill pan with hot water. Add 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup citric acid. Let the water cool down or leave overnight. The gunk should wash off. I hope this helps, it works for me.😊

when this happened to me, I just put water in the pot and let it cook slowly. Then start to spoon out the burnt. You may need to repeat once or twice. Works for me every time 🤗

I'm not sure where you bought this pan, but I also spent a lot of money on a similar set--when I was 18! Recently, the same thing happened to one of my pans and I called the original company and they cheerfully replaced it Along with a new, matching lid! BTW, I was 18 in 1981. They usually have a 50-year or greater warranty. It can't hurt to ask.

Get a fiber-optic cleaning stick. You can order them through alibaba. I had some sheet pans almost that bad. It did take more than one wash, but they are clear of the crud. Find the ones that at least 2 inches long so you've got plenty to hold on to. I like to use a paste of dawn and baking soda with my stick for really bad stuff.

Cover the bottom with baking soda, then pour in straight white vinegar. It will bubble up like a science experiment. soak overnight. It might help. Also try a magic eraser.
