How do you keep squirrels ( ground especially) out of the garden?

They have attacked my watermelon and squash plant leaves only, leaving only stems, which eventually die

    i had that same problem with my tomatoes. I put rubber snakes in my tomat vines and that helped until those pesky squirrels figured out the snakes weren't real. Then I put gummy worms around in various places in my yard and bushes and no more squirrels!!! It's amazing!

    this is a hard one, they usually fight through any means of discouragement, there are electronic pest repellent machines

    You can try putting hot pepper flakes in the garden and a garden owl or fake snakes. The pepper flakes work for me.

    low dose electric hot fence wrapped 3 or 4 times around the garden at different heights.

    throw something else out for them to eat. Like go to the bread store where they sell cheap bread and get Aldi's peanut butter and throw them out peanut butter sandwiches broken up
