To end up with a smooth, glossy finish, be sure to start by sanding the frame with 320-400 sandpaper. Be sure to prime any unprimed spots, then use a high quality gloss enamel paint, either sprayed on or applied with a foam roller (I always use a 3-4" ). I have been very pleased with the results I get with marine grade paint, both oil based and latex. Although twice the cost of most paints, it holds up super.
