It grows in our clay soil in Indiana, but myrtle is also a good ground cover and produces purple flowers (periwinkle). I wish I knew the name of my favorite ground cover, which is just a weed, but is thick and takes off anywhere I put it down. It has light green waxy leaves with tiny yellow blooms in the spring and stays green all year.
