Mitre Timber, Rebate for Glass, Have Glass Cut , Cut Backing Card,
Thank you for your reply it was very helpful but I don't have the right tools, pity. Sue
You can buy framing molding from a picture framing supply company, if you want it cut to size, order the size, you will have to get a 90degree vice to glue and nail the frame. There is a special framing vice that holds the frame by the rabbit. Rabbit is the routed out section of the frame that allows you to put the artwork in to hold it in the frame. Framers generally use pneumatic nailers/staplers. You can purchase a hand held brad nail fitting tool from framing supply company.
To do it properly, you will have to make an investment. Picture moldings wholesale can range between $1.00 per foot to over $100.00 per foot. Glass, backing, hanging hardware Etc.
It can be well worth the investment if you are going to do nice framing, framing is very expensive when you have matting done and custom size frames.
Good Luck
Purchase pretty moldings at any home improvement store, and glue together. Here are some links, with and without glass.
