what can I do to help a white counter top that has stains? Would love to replace it with granite but that is not in the budget. Please help!!

How about that heavy-duty marbleized adhesive-backed paper? It is waterproof and should hold up until you are able to replace the countertops.
I used Gianni countertop paint . Makes Formica look like granite. Love the results
