If it is from dirt, mix some oxygen-based cleaner like Awesome Orange or OxyClean with water and wipe it down (works like a charm!).... or try a milder liquid cleaner like Dawn dish soap and water. Another idea is to use carpet/upholstery cleaner mixed in a bowl and wipe it down with that. If it is from wear and tear, you may want to have the rest of the piece dyed to match.
