How can I separate a wood mirror that fused to the dresser top?!

I want to remove the mirror from my dresser. We put it on when we moved in 15 years ago and somewhere along the line moisture of somekind got inbetween the two and now they are fused at one end. We removed the screws and as we started to lift we heard the cracking sound and immediately stopped and put the screws back in. The only thing I can think of is a liquid cleaner or wax my cleaning service may have used on the dresser. any suggestions? I was going to try spraying warm water in there and using dental floss? icon Or should I use somethiing petroleum based? like WD40?

The dresser is a mission style Hooker brand set. I dont think they used veneers. It's a good set from the Carolinas with dovetails in the drawers...its 23 years old and stll looks new. I don't want to ruin the top of the dresser, but eventually the mirror will have to come off.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

The mirror in question.
The super tight space I need to separate. I feel like it is only fused in the space pictured. I don't think it is stuck for the length of the mirror.
