I would like to update color of a sofa I have in like new condition to a more modern looking color. I have read how others have painted, but said the fabric become stiff feeling. Is their any other methods that will change the color, but keep the fabric feeling like it already does? Thanks.

Thank you for your input, but wasn't wanting to use slipcovers.

I love Plumbs, but it's a UK business. In the US, SureFit sells ready-made slipcovers. If your furniture is a fairly standard size, SureFit's stretch covers fit like custom made.

My mother was very crafty and sometimes a lot cheap, but she once used Ritt dye in water and sprayed on wool carpet to dye it. Other than the light gray it was. It lasted forever. She even shampooed it a few years later and didn't seem to pull the color back out. I remember she sprayed in layers until she got the color she wanted. Maybe try it in an inconspicuous spot first.
