Tomato End Rot

water once a week with Epsom salt water solution... follow directions on side of Epsom salt package.

epsom salt is chrystalized magnisium, but the tomatoe also needs calcium as well. These 2 minerals tend to wash out of the potting mix. Epsom salt table spoon at the base of the plant. calcium is provided by lime, egg shells, bone meal. I give mine a quarter cup of bone meal every few weeks While the fruits are growing.

the tomato plants need magnesium sets the blossoms. If no fruits you may need to pollinate by hand, make sure the plants are also getting calcium....bone meal, lime eggshells, tums if only a few plants.

I found a spray at a local greenhouse that you spray directly onto the leaves so it absorbs the calcium quicker. I doesn't stop any blossom end rot already existing, but will prevent it if you follow the directions. Worked great for the tomato plant that I had in a big pot. I still put ground egg shells on the soil for slower absorption of more calcium. I did not have any more problems with blossom end rot.

When I plant my Tomatoes, I throw in 1 or 2 of my Calcium Supplement Pills that I take in the hole. Haven't had Blossom end rot since.

When I plant my tomatoes, I scatter crushed egg shells around the base of the plant. I save these in a jar during the winter when I cook eggs.
