How do I build a pedestal for a washer & dryer?

The pedestal base should have "open" space of about 8-10 inches under the appliances. Then, I want to top the appliances with a slab of granite? Thanks.

    wood pallets are great

I thought about those but there's no space underneath for storage. I could take apart the pallets to use the wood, but I really need longer, 2x4s, etc., to make the pedestal, so I may as well buy the lumber. Good idea, though...thanks.

Take the measurements of the washer and dryer bases. Use 3/4" plywood and construct a box that they can sit on. You can leave the front open or install drawers. I don't think they can carry the weight of a slab of granite, but you can make a wooden top instead.

Thanks for the confirmation of what I thought I should do. And yes, I will have to build an additional "box" on which to set the granite slab. Thanks very much.

This is making a strange picture in my head. Hopefully these things are front loaders, or you are never going to be able to get things in and out without a ladder. I agree about the granite slab. You could make an edge out of granite or stone tile to give you the look without the weight.

They indeed are front loaders . I will make a "box" on which the appliances will sit, with an additional "box" on top of that to support the granite slab (which I already have). Thanks for the information.
