Have Home Depot cut a 2X12 board for you. Give it a good sand and then stain it with your favorite stain. I used Special Walnut by Minwax
Use painters tape to create crisp lines of where you want your chalkboard to be.
Paint the chalkboard! I let one coat dry and then added a total of 5 coats.
GENTLY pull the painters tape off. I did this step before the board had completely dried.
Add your handles! I got these from Hobby Lobby. Condition your chalkboard by rubbing a piece of chalk all over it and then wiping off the excess with a dry cloth. This will help disguise those "stains" that chalk leaves behind sometimes.
That's it! Super easy! You can use this chalkboard tray for your coffee table, decor for your dining room or use it in your guest room to house some goodies for when you have visitors! Dress it up with some chocolates, a vase of flowers, etc. The possibilities are endless! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. For more projects, visit my website and follow along on Instagram!
