  • Have a consult witha landscape designer, while to me everything has a logical, common sense order, not everyone sees things that way - hence designers. Or visit a few of the best nurseries in your area. Take photos with you and get lots of free help!

Go on line and request several flower catalogs from nurseries; they will include flowers for all growing seasons so you can make a plan. Choose from those perennials that fit your growing zone, soil and lighting needs. There are so many beautiful flowers that sometimes, it's just fun to dream.

i would suggest going to a local greenhouse/nursery that has a good selection of perennials and start asking questions! They will have a good idea of what will grow on your area. Any will have a landscape artist who will work with you to make a plan to fit your lifestyle and overall vision.

Once you’ve decided on your location use a shovel to carve out the perimeter of the bed. If your soil is mostly clay or sandy you may want to remove about 1/3 and replace with compost. I prefer composted cow manure because it’s cheap and easy. Dig down about 12-24” and mix the compost in with the remaining soil. The most important part of any flowerbed is soil preparation! Good luck!

JUST LOOK AT THE BACK OF THE SEED PACKETS . THEY WILL TELL YOU HOW MUCH SUNLIGHT AND WHAT GROWING CONDITIONS THE FLOWERS NEED .
