I removed 1 of the plastic flowers on feeder to enlarge hole so woodpeckers could also drink. Now overrun with bees so needed to replace flower and use bee guards. Woodpeckers so disappointed! With hole open, bees get in and drown, which is sad also.

oh heck.. set up a camera .to take pictures... it's delightful to see hummingbirds, bees and woodpeckers duel it out over territory.. none will hurt the other and it's a good show,, those hummingbirds are more aggressive when it comes to food than bees or peckers

But once the bees get into the feeder, they are drowning in large numbers. And if I cover the opening to keep the bees out, the woodpeckers can't get to the nectar. I would like to find a way where the woodpeckers can eat but the bees can't get in. So everyone survives!!

Where do you get Bee Guards for Humming Bird Feeders ?. The Bees have chased all the Humming Birds away from my feeder !. The Bees are so aggressive they chase off the Humming Birds as soon as they see they approach.

You can get bee guards at Ace Hardware and sometimes at Home Depot. They're inexpensive and work really great!

bees are going to drown themselves no matter what you do. Set up a separate feeder so hummers and woodpeckers. Change food everyday.. just don't fill as full as you might normally. Bees are drawn by sugary fluid that have dribbled down the feeder.

Make a bee waterer. Google it for ideas and instructions. This is my hanging waterer which won’t work for woodpeckers but you can set one up in a bird bath that would.
