Where am I going wrong with my fig tree ? We had no figs this year !

we live in N.J. Didn't cover it. Had a mild winter. Tree is about 7 ft by 4 1/2 ft wide.
last time we had figs was about 3 summers ago.

I think it must be the weather this year because my fig tree had a number of figs on them but never matured. The stayed the size of a cherry tomato and last year we had plenty. Talking to other people, the only variable is the weather.
