Have you washed it and added softner?
Consider washing and using a fabric softener. Don't cut it to size or wash anything else with it because it's going to shred and unravel.
Maybe you should look at a Canvas.......
You can soak it in water and softener and lay to out on a towel to dry. Don't rinse out the softener. It should be more flexible as well as have enough body for most projects. Best wishes 😇
