Our guest bathroom was very bland.
I wanted to make it warm and more homelike...with a rustic feel. Here's what I did
Bare wall over the tiolet.
Bare wall with towel hooks.
We bought cheap wood strips and used 5 different colors on them...white, light grey, dark grey, mahogany, and black. Cut them in uniform strips and placed them on the wall.
We combined cross bars and uprights to make the pattern wanted.
On the opposite wall we placed longer strips and then uprights. We just played with the pattern.
I was shopping for old soap and bath ads to frame when I realized I had the world's best picture for the bath.
This is my husband's gramdmother bathing his mother. Soooo cool.
Close up of the picture.
Decorated the wall by adding a wider board at the top ad a shelf. All boards were attached with Liquid Nails, a nail gun. The shelf was attached top down with screws.
The final step, shower curtain, came tonight.
The whole room is homey, warm, and rustic. Use any colors you want. And make sure you have a helpful husband.
Suggested materials:
  • For this project we used wood strips from Lowes.gray stain, white paint, black stain, and mahogany stain.   (Lowes of course.)
